1234The RA Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Armenia Johannes Douma. The meeting aimed to discuss the current projects and future prospects of the Armenian-Dutch cooperation.

 

Congratulating the guest on starting his diplomatic mission in our country, the Minister expressed confidence that during his tenure the Armenian-Dutch relations will become more active and effective.

 

“Between Armenia and the Netherlands close relationships have been formed in various sectors of agriculture, a number of joint ventures have been established, a number of programs have been implemented aimed at the development of the sector. However, the full potential of bilateral cooperation is not fully used, it is necessary to deepen bilateral relations, taking into account the experience of the Netherlands in the agricultural sector”, -Sergo Karapetyan said.

 

Stressing that successful and effective cooperation has been formed between the two countries especially in the spheres of seed production, animal husbandry, fisheries and greenhouse construction, the Minister also stressed the importance of cooperation in other areas. The Minister proposed to the guest to explore the possibility of establishing a joint venture as an example pointing out in particular the poultry sector.

 

Highlighting the role of cooperatives and informing that the ”Law on Agricultural Cooperatives” was adopted in 2015, which created bases for the development of cooperatives in the country, the Minister expressed confidence that the Dutch rich experience in this issue can be extremely useful for the Armenian side.

 

The parties agreed to further explore possible ways of cooperation and further develop respective programs.
