Mr. Ignati Arakelyan, RA Minister Of Agriculture Received Mr. John Kur, Ambassador Of Canada To Armenia

1 (1)Mr. Ignati Arakelyan, Minister of Agriculture of RA received the delegation headed by Mr. John Kur, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada.

 

During the meeting Mr. John Kur, the Ambassador stressed that cooperation in the field of agriculture is one of the priority directions of Armenian-Canadian relations and the Canadian side has the intention to activate business contacts in Armenia. Noting that 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Canada is being celebrated this year, Ambassador informed that it is planned to implement several events in Armenia this year, also in the field of agricultural. Mr. John Kur suggested signing the Memorandum of Understanding between Livestock Genetic Association of Canada, Canadian Pork and Pasture and Forage Association and the Center of Agribusiness and Rural Development (CARD) in March in Yerevan.

 

Besides signing the Memorandum, Canadian businessmen are planning to visit Armenia. Meanwhile, Ambassador added that the Canadian side intends to organize Armenian businessmen`s visit to Canada in order to explore the country experience in the field of agriculture and to establish business contacts.

 

Mr. Ignati Arakelyan, Minister of Agriculture of RA expressed his satisfaction for the close relationships formed between two countries in the agro-food complex. For strengthening bilateral cooperation Minister suggested to discuss possibility of creating joint companies in order to export products to EEC countries.

 

We are glad that Canadian agrarian business enters into Armenia and we are ready to support implementation of bilateral projects maximally”, – Mr. Ignati Arakelyan noted.

 

Referring to more perspective sectors of cooperation with Canada in the field of agriculture, Minister of Agriculture of RA pointed out in particular the pig-breeding and cattle-breeding sectors.

 

Highlighting great influence of the specialized branch councils in relations between private and state sectors in Canada, Minister noted that Canadian experience in this sphere is instructive for Armenia and the Armenian side is going to study the possibility of its localization.

 

During the meeting Mr. John Kur, Ambassador suggested Mr. Ignati Arakelyan to visit Canada in order to have a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of Canada and to discuss the possibility of expansion  of the scope of cooperation.
